Parental and carer support

Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice prides itself on looking after the whole of the family. Having a child in the family with complex needs has an enormous effect on all members of the family, not only parents, carers, and siblings, but Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles and many more.

Counselling

Counselling is available at Zoë’s Place for all members of the family. Whether you have lost a child, dealing with a complex diagnosis or you need to talk to a professional, our counsellors are available and offer a confidential, supportive service. Our counselling service can be delivered at Zoë’s Place in our holistic room or at another location if you prefer. Our counsellors are outsourced and delivered by a wonderful charity called Love, Jasmine who are very experienced in supporting families

If you are in crisis please contact: https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/mental-health/find-an-urgent-mental-health-helpline.or text “shout” to 85258 for free from all major UK mobile networks.

Holistic Therapies

Wellbeing Holistic therapies are also available for our parents, carers and families, including, massages, facials, acupuncture, reiki, reflexology and hopi ear candle therapy. This provides an opportunity to relax, de-stress, or simply have an hour completely for yourself.

We know how difficult it is for our families to book appointments whilst caring for a child with complex needs so we can also offer to look after your child whilst you have some me time.

Outreach

We offer outreach programs in some of our branches for play sessions and parental support whilst your child is in hospital.

Our play specialist/play leader will bring activities to the hospital and help normalise the environment for the family. If your child is in the hospital for holidays or special events like their birthdays, we can help with decorations, cake and activities.

Family events

Zoë’s Place also offers multiple family events throughout the year which include parties, barbeques, ice skating and other events in the local community.

These days are a great opportunity for families to get together and connect with other families in similar situations. Families also get to have experiences that they may not always get to experience and try out new activities for their child.

Coffee morning/stay and play

Once a month we offer a coffee morning/ stay and plays where parents and/or children can come into to Zoë’s Place for a drink and stay and play.

These mornings allow families to connect and support with each other and help the children socialise. It also gives newer children an opportunity to adjust to their environment. Parents get to see the activities we do at Zoë’s Place and participate with their children. It is also very good for siblings as they get to see where and what their brother and sister do whilst they are at Zoë’s Place.
