Respite care

We currently care for up to 130 families across our three hospices. The majority of the support we provide at Zoë’s Place is respite care, which is tailored specifically to meet the needs of the babies and their families who use the service.

All of the babies at the hospice have a life-limiting or life-threatening condition and require differing levels of 24-hour support on a one-to-one basis. Zoë’s Place offers our parents and carers a chance to take a break from the demands of caring for their baby who has complex needs and recharge their batteries. This may be just for the day, it may be overnight or it could be for up to a week depending on the family’s wishes.

During respite stays, each child has a holistic plan of care which encompasses their medical, social, emotional and spiritual needs. Their care is delivered by qualified children’s nurses along with a diverse and experienced multi-disciplinary team.

We pride ourselves on being a home from home environment and there is always a dedicated member of staff caring for each child throughout their stay. Our days in the hospice are based around play which is essential to any baby’s development. Through play, babies learn new things, grow and thrive, but most importantly it also allows us to make precious memories for families to treasure.

The value of this respite care to our families cannot be underestimated and many families tell us that they simply would not be able to cope without the help and support of our team.
